About the Event
Paws to Pavement is a unique community event promoting the health of animals and their humans. The Savannah Kennel Club and local rescues such as Renegade Paws Rescue, The Humane Society of Savannah, One Love Rescue, Coastal Pet Rescue and Chatham County Animal Shelter join together for a dog walk.
Our goal is to make Savannah a Fit Dog City!.
“The most commonly recommended exercise to improve fitness by both physicians and veterinarians is walking,” said Mary Burch, Director of the AKC Family Dog program. “AKC FIT DOG has adopted the American Heart Association’s recommendation of 30 to 40 minutes of walking for a total of 150 minutes per week. If we can get people walking with their dogs, we can contribute to the overall health, fitness and well-being of dogs and their owners.”
All Participants are asked to bring a donation of dog or cat food. Participants that do not have a dog can borrow a walking buddy from one of our local rescues.
Trainers will be on hand to help with loose leash walking and manners.
Paws to Pavement events are held on the first Wednesday of every month and culminates in the Fast and Furriest Race held in September.
